Getting started with Altly
Everything from your first upload to syncing accessible alt text into WordPress. It takes about five minutes to get going.
Getting started
Create your account
Head to altly.phpdoesntexist.com and choose Get started. You sign in with a phpDoesntExist account, one login for Altly and everything else. New here? You can create the account on the way in.
Pick a plan
Start on the free tier to try it, or choose a paid plan. Pricing is credit-based: one credit describes one image. You can change plans anytime from Billing.
Uploading images
Drag and drop
On the Uploads screen, drop in a whole shoot or a single photo. JPG, PNG, WebP, and GIF all work. Each file uploads straight to secure Cloudflare storage.
Automatic description
As soon as an image lands, Claude writes ADA-compliant alt text and a set of searchable tags. You do not have to do anything.
Reviewing alt text
Open the review view
Click any image in your Library to open it big, with its description, tags, and status. Edit the text, or regenerate it if you want a different take.
Approve before it ships
Nothing publishes on its own. Approve an image when the description is right. You can also turn on auto-approve in Settings if you trust the output.
Set your preferences
In Settings, choose the alt-text length and language, and those preferences feed every new description.
Searching your library
Search by what is in the photo
Because every image is described and tagged, you can search for red car or analytics dashboard and find the shot in seconds. The top-bar search shows instant results.
Collections
Group related images into collections to keep large libraries organized.
Syncing to WordPress
Connect your site
In Settings, add your WordPress site URL, username, and an Application Password (created under Users > Profile in your WordPress). Test the connection.
Push with one click
From the review view, push an image and its alt text straight into your WordPress media library. Turn on auto-sync to send every approved image automatically.
Team and billing
Invite your team
On paid plans, invite teammates by email and assign seats. Control who can approve and publish.
Credits and top-ups
Each image described uses one credit. Editing an existing description is free. Running low? Top up at your plan rate or move to a bigger plan, both from Billing.
